Komen Cancels Annual D.C. Lobbying Day

Susan G. Komen for the Cure has canceled its annual day of lobbying in Washington, D.C. The event usually involves hundreds of activists descending on Capitol Hill to advocate for federal programs that focus on cancer research as well as screenings and treatment for low-income women. A spokeswoman for Komen declined to elaborate on the reasons for the cancellation, but acknowledged the problems the charity has faced since controversy flared over its handling of support for Planned Parenthood.
